Selected Poems
capitol city, waterfront town,
behemoths roam.....
venting frustrations.....

Alaska
Alaska,
land of mathematicians
turned
wild, wooly and unwashed foresters
foraging
in bars
for tales to tell
of woodsy valor,
hordes of neo-beats/hipsters
swarming
amidst tourists
seeking thrills
(don't much matter
if the thrills are lies,
we'll pretend it's real),
beautific escapees
from an impacted
main-
land
bloated with stories
of brown bear honeyed madness,
watered down drinks
and spruce tree
phantasmagoria,
"Nature is where
it's at,"
they cry out
while denying
the naturalness
of humankind
of real people
whose hearts pump
blood and passion,
and all these cries
of naturalness
within
constricting trailer camps,
tré trailer camps,
prefabricated lifestyles
and jigsaw puzzle
condominiums,
condoms for a spastic/inorganic
social schema,
denativized/disjointed Alaska,
coven village
of pseudo-mystics,
red-bearded clavern,
red-necked,
and very much
a refraction
of USA nostalgia,
lacquered up replica
singing outmoded
1940's flaccidity,
tar papered modalities
straddling
verdant beauty,
chug-a-long hysteria
intersticing
historical frustrations,
vastnes
birthing
a dearth of feeling,
frontier types
unable to emote . . .
bound in
by bay, glacier,
and awesome
isolation,
S P A C E
the encombrium,
the libation,
and the salutation.
Alaska,
native land
of non natives
existentially journeying
into
the trappings
of quasi-realization,
brutally reliving
past centuries,
methodically
committing genocide,
yes, deny
the eskimos
aleuts,
athabaskans,
haida and tlingits
their historical
right
to live
as their ancestors
lived
when Alaska
was their land,
kill them off,
Amerika,
now, right now,
while fear
gnaws on your
collective
manifest destiny
mentality,
yes, butcher once again
those people
you purposely misunderstand,
ply them with missionary zeal
and other death breathing condiments,
herd them into bistros,
drown them with
your venereal realpolitik,
bloodbathe them one more time
until the land is soot, barren,
and a fitting tribute
to all that is interminable
about the USA. . . .
