The Ricardo Sánchez Papers, 1959-1989

This is the first archived collections of Dr. Ricardo
Sánchez. Here's a brief decription of the archives and
what they have.
Summary:
The Sánchez Papers reflect the writing and activities of Dr.
Sánchez, an activist Chicano poet. Contains correspondence,
literary manuscripts, and published works of Sánchez. Also
contains records of his speaking engagements, his activities
in the Canto al Pueblo Association, Colorado Migrant
Council, Mictla Publications, National Hispanic Institute,
and Union Graduate School. Includes articles about Sánchez
and his work, articles about other Chicano writers and
artists, and writings by other authors, particularly
Abelardo Delgado. Subject files reflect Sánchez' interest in
art, Chicano activism, civil rights, education, literature,
and publishing among other topics. Photographs show Sánchez,
his family, and other Chicano authors and artists. Slides
show art work by Armando Estrella, Mago Orona, and Carlos
Rosas. Audio tapes record interviews and poetry readings.
Newspapers in the collection include leftist, underground,
and college publications, as well as newsclippings from
mainstream and Mexican American publications.
