Robert Barcena  (interpas@hotmail.com) is a third generation El Pasoan who spent his summers growing up in Mexico City. With a long history of participation in social, political, and cultural events, he is currently employed teaching E.S.L. A history degree graduate from UTEP, he also has received a postgraduate diploma in Literary Criticism of Contemporary Latin American Literature from UACJ. Together with Ricardo S?nchez, he was among the circle of Los Desbordados, which was an international tertulia in El Paso/Ju?rez around 1988 to 1990. A close friend of Dr. S?nchez of more than twenty years, both were known to have been seen together spending long hours in coffee shops, restaurants, bistros, and each other's studies discoursing and bantering about every subject imaginable.
